Born in Hue city in a middle-class.
He is one of the 1st generation graduated Indochina Fine Arts College (1925-1930).
Many creative paintings in his career, specialized in silk painting. Women, Children and Daily Life are the main subjects through his career. Living in the center of fine art in Europe as Paris, but his Oriental conception is mainly style in his fine arts and folk arts.
1936 sent works in exhibition of SADEAI in Hanoi.
He moved to France in 1937, at the same time with Le Pho painter.
1938 Participated in Fine Arts Exhibitions in Paris.
1941 Participated in the Grand Exhibition in Algier with Le Pho.
1964 exhibited in France with the topic of “Children of Mai Thu”.
1967 exhibited in France with the topic of “ Women in Mai Thu’s Eyes”.
1974 backed to Vietnam with Diem Phung Thi sculptor and donated some his works for the Fine Arts Museum of Vietnam.
1980 exhibited in France with the topic of “Mai Thu’s Poetic World”.
Has works in many private collections over the world. The Fine Arts Museum of Vietnam hold some his works. Works of art were auctioned in the big auction houses as Christine’s, Sotheby’s at hundreds of thousands of us dollar recently.
